Medak, India: Medak police successfully cracked a series of major burglary cases in the Chilapalli village under Pedda Shankarampet Mandal, recovering valuable stolen property and apprehending one habitual offender. The thefts occurred during a single night of May 14 when burglars broke into five locked houses, stealing over 929 grams of gold ornaments and almost three kilograms of silver articles worth nearly ₹1.35 crore, as well as ₹19,000 in cash.
The Case Breakthrough
Investigations led by the police established a timeline where the accused along with unidentified burglars broke into locked houses, stealing 109 tolas and nine grams of gold ornaments from five different homes. In one house, about three tolas of gold ornaments were stolen. Based on these leads, the police identified Jadhav Jairam Naik, also known as Jemla Naik, who confessed his involvement in several burglary cases under Shankarampet police station boundaries.
The SP D.V. Srinivas Rao reported that besides this recent case, Naik admitted to 12 other crime cases filed across Kamareddy and Nizamabad districts. The accused is a known habitual offender with multiple property-related criminal records. However, the police are still on the lookout for two remaining absconding suspects.
During the investigation, special teams were formed, leading to an intensive search using technical evidence and intelligence inputs. The suspect was then apprehended near Ramayampet, resulting in the recovery of 929.7 grams of gold and 1.7 kilograms of silver articles from his possession.
As a precautionary measure, the Medak SP advised citizens to enhance their security by installing CCTV cameras, informing local police before locking homes for long periods, and storing valuable items in banks. The investigative teams involved were commended for their efforts.
