Thiruvananthapuram: As Kerala officially welcomed a new academic year on Monday, the state's educational institutions breathed new life with vibrant decorations and joyous celebrations. After a two-month summer break, schools across Thiruvananthapuram rang their bells and hosted welcoming ceremonies to mark the return of students.
Teachers and school authorities organized colorful events filled with flowers, sweets, paper crowns, and cheerful activities that aimed at making children comfortable on their first day back. According to official figures, over 42 lakh students attended classes across the state, including nearly three lakh first-time entrants in Class 1.
Kerala's Academic Year Begins with Innovation
Primary classrooms underwent a makeover with visually appealing designs and motivational themes that created an environment conducive to learning. These decorations included colorful illustrations, storybook characters, and nature-inspired elements designed to cater to the visual interests of young learners.
The official launch of the academic year took place at Government Model Girls Higher Secondary School in Thiruvananthapuram, where Chief Minister V D Satheesan emphasized the government's commitment to providing world-class education. He announced the establishment of Centres of Excellence and introduced initiatives like the Centres of Scientific Temper, inspired by Jawaharlal Nehru.
Highlighting the importance of updating oneself in an era of rapid learning advancements, Chief Minister Satheesan called on parents and educators to foster a generation capable of thriving in today's knowledge-driven society. His message echoed across venues as he engaged with students and teachers through warm interactions and shared advice.
