Hyundai Increases Prices Starting May: Here's What You Need to Know

Highlights

  • Hyundai increase prices by up to 1% starting May 2026
  • Global raw material costs surge impacting all models
  • Quartely sales records for FY2026 with 208,275 units sold
  • March 2026 marked new historical sales record

Starting May 2026, Hyundai Motor India will increase the prices of all its cars by up to 1%. This decision was prompted by rising material and input costs. Popular models like Creta, Venue, and i20 are included in this price change, though variations may occur depending on the model and variant.

Responding to Rising Costs

Hyundai India has emphasized that the cost of raw materials and inputs has surged significantly. Although the company previously tried to shield customers from these increases, it now deems a partial price adjustment essential due to current global conditions.

"We are committed to providing affordable and robust vehicles, but this significant increase in manufacturing costs necessitates that we share part of the burden with our valued customers," said Tarun Garg, MD and CEO of Hyundai India. "This hike is temporary and reflects a temporary situation."

While the price rise may come as a surprise to many, it's important to note that these increased costs are not unique to Hyundai but are impacting the entire automobile industry worldwide.

Impressive Sales Performance

Despite the impending price increase, Hyundai India reported robust sales figures. In the fourth quarter of FY2026 (January-March), the company sold a total of 208,275 units, marking an impressive year-on-year growth of 8.7%. This was significantly higher than the previous quarter's sales of 166,578 units in the domestic market.

Internationally, Hyundai recorded strong growth with exports up by 9.4% compared to the same period last year. In March 2026 alone, the company sold 69,004 vehicles, setting a new historical sales record for any month of March in India.

"Our success this quarter is attributed to our strong lineup of updated models like Venue and Creta that continue to win hearts with their robust technology and design," said Garg. "These models have reinforced Hyundai's market position."
