Banks across the country will witness closures today, Friday, March 27th, as many states observe Ram Navami, a significant Hindu festival marking the birth of Lord Shri Ram. This closure will affect services in cities like Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Ranchi, Jaipur, Lucknow, and Kolkata. These closures are part of religious holidays where financial institutions honor cultural traditions.
However, customers should not face significant disruptions with most banking services operational online. Net banking, mobile banking, UPI transactions, and ATM facilities will remain accessible for all account holders to manage their finances without visiting physical branches. This means that while check-clearing processes and cash deposits might be delayed, you can still handle routine financial transactions through digital channels.
Details of Bank Closures
Prioritizing banking services online, many urban centers including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, and Ranchi will see banks closed on March 31 in observance of Mahavir Jayanti. Bank branches were already shut on March 26 for Ram Navami, leaving customers to manage their financial activities via digital means.
Despite these temporary operational gaps, the impact on day-to-day transactions is minimal. Banks like HDFC, ICICI, and SBI have adjusted their policies to ensure that online services remain a reliable alternative during holidays, ensuring continuity in financial management through technology.
